Wine Description
The 2003 vintage of Chateau Pontet Canet displays a deep garnet hue, showing the richness of the hot vintage. On the nose, it offers ripe aromas of blackberries, cassis, and plum, intertwined with notes of cedar, tobacco leaf, and a hint of graphite. The palate is full-bodied and opulent, with velvety tannins supporting layers of dark fruit, roasted coffee, and spice. Despite the warmth of the year, the wine maintains remarkable balance and finishes with lingering notes of cocoa and dried herbs. The blend is predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot, with an optimal drinking window from now through the early 2030s.
